Swap Magic 3.6 Boot Disc, with increased compatibility added for the newest PS2 consoles and full support for the SCPH-7000x series consoles and games! Allows playing of all backup CD, DVD, & DVDRip (632mb+ CD-R backups) games on the PS2 console. For the USA model PS2 you should see the PS2 Swap Magic NTSC version. Please note that the Swap Magic 3.6 PAL version is NOT intended for the USA model PS2 consoles. Both the NTSC and the Swap Magic 3.6 PAL versions come with the Swap Magic 3.8 CODER Disc and 3.6 Plus DVD Disc. Works in all PAL PS2 Consoles world Wide. It's also unusual for me to play the same game twice in a row, so it wouldn't be that much extra work to boot Swap Magic and then boot the game. The Swap Magic 3.6 PAL version for European PS2 Consoles. Magic Swap should let me burn the images as they are (as far as I know) and since I'd only be using it for a handful of expensive games, I shouldn't be using it that often. The portability of Free MCBoot is nice, but the patching and all of that seems like it will be so much trouble I would just as soon buy the game, not to mention it's possible that many games I would want to play wouldn't work. I just can't decide if it's worth messing with Free MCBoot or to just cut my losses and play games with Swap Magic since I already have it now. I would have to bring my PS2 slim to play it somewhere else you have to put the boot disc in first every time I have a PS2 slim and I can bypass the switches with solder in about 30 minutes and it'll be ready to go CD games must be converted to DVD format, which might not work for some games games require patching to work properly and many games don't work well or at all (not sure what the real numbers are) can be had free+shipping from many people online (or free if I could get the damn installer to work) can be used on any unmodded PS2, which means I could bring the memory card+DVD-R anywhere and play it So, here's the real question: which is really better, Free MCBoot or Swap Magic 3.6? I tried two different flash drives, but that could still be the culprit, but I have no idea what brand/type is ideal for this crap.
Swap magic 3.6 vs 3.8 install#
I'm using the method to install it with Magic Swap, but every time I boot it with the flash drive plugged in, it just hangs at the boot screen. *sigh* after several attempts, I haven't been able to install Free MCBoot on my PS2 memory card.
